Why We Started This Journey

Child's drawing of a person with short brown hair, wearing a red shirt, with a neck scarf, smiling, labeled 'Lump' with an arrow pointing to the head.
A teacher with glasses in a suit is holding a microphone and reading from a piece of paper while students sit around in a classroom, some smiling and one with hands clasped. The room is bright with large windows.
Handmade sign with rainbow-colored stripes as background, displaying the message 'Bones tells CJ he has cancer' in large, black letters, with a black heart shape in the top left corner.

The Adventure

We wrote The Mad Dash for one simple reason: we wanted to give students a story they would actually love to read. It’s a trilogy filled with humor, heart, and the kind of high-stakes adventure that keeps kids (and their teachers) laughing and engaged from the first page to the last. We believe that when a story is this much fun, the learning happens naturally.

Colorful children’s drawing with the words 'The Big Escape' written in multicolored letters on a bright blue background.
Colorful hand-drawn sign that reads "Here Comes the Wild Act" with each word in different colors and large letters.

The Access

Every student deserves to go on this journey. Thanks to our Sponsors, we’ve removed the barriers to entry. Whether it’s in the classroom, at an after-school program, or on the couch at home, we’ve ensured that The Mad Dash is accessible to every student, everywhere, at no cost to them or their schools.

A childlike drawing of two boys with angry expressions, one with spiky black hair wearing a lime green shirt and another with brown messy hair wearing a blue shirt. They are having a conversation with speech bubbles; the boy in green says, 'I have cancer...' and the boy in blue responds, 'That's stupid...'. The background is pink and textured.

The Champions

Finally, we’re here to stand up for the people who make the classroom magic happen. We know that teachers are the primary “champions” of our children’s lives, and we know they often reach into their own pockets to make the school year special.

We didn’t just want to provide a program; we wanted to provide a partnership. By offering a unique journey for their students and real financial support for their classrooms, we’re empowering our Champions…the teachers of the world to do what they do best— “teach your children well”. - Graham Nash.
